|Research Title:||Guar and Arabic Gums Properties Improvement for Potential Use in EOR & Sand Control in Sudanese Oil Fields|
1- Dr. Hassan Bashir Nimir (Principal investigator)
2- Dr. Quosay Awad Ahmed (Co-principal investigator)
3- Researchers from Department of Petroleum Engineering- UofK and researchers from:
|Sponsored by:||Ministry of Petroleum and Gas|
This research project addresses the potentiality of increasing recovery from selected Sudanese oil fields & reducing sand production which affects production continuity and production goods by utilizing natural polymers produced in Sudan, mainly Guar Gum and Gum Arabic.
In summary the treatment involves addition of small quantities of these gums (ppm) to the injected water to increase its viscosity and to improve its sweep efficiency of recovery. On the other hand sand production will be reduced by formulating a special recipe from the gums that will consolidate the sand without affecting near wellbore permeability to oil.
